Fast forward to 2013 when approximately 2% of auto mechanics were women. Patrice Banks started the Girls Auto Clinic in Philadelphia, PA in 2013 after not being able to find a female mechanic to work on her car. Department of Labor says that in 1989, of the 880,000 individuals in the auto service, industry only 6,000 were women.
