Should shops have to bear the cost of diagnosis by providing the necessary scan tools? Most autorepairshops require their techs to have a basic set of tools and view having a complete set as a sign of professionalism. This applies to hand tools as well as scanners and diagnostic tools.
If a tech doesn’t have the right skills, there’s no point even conducting an interview. Taking the time to understand what employees bring to the table in terms of their personality will make a difference in how they will interact with your existing team and will lessen turnover in your shop. Is this good or bad? Skills are important.
