Look for a shop that has ASE-certified mechanics and holds other certifications from reputable organizations. Either when you schedule the appointment or after you get to the shop, the mechanic will ask you to describe the vehicle's symptoms, as well as probably ask about the vehicle’s maintenance history and driving habits.
